How one advisor weaves volatility offsets into client portfolios

Francis Sabourin, Senior Portfolio Manager at Richardson Wealth, is rethinking the traditional two-wheel bicycle investment approach. With bonds no longer offering the same diversification benefits they once did, he’s added a third wheel to the portfolio mix – made up of less traditional sources of income.

Sabourin sees the third wheel as a way to offset volatility and provide appropriate benefit for clients, though he notes that these products aren’t likely to outperform overall or even during volatile periods.
