How investors can maximize both their financial and emotional returns

The overarching goal of investment portfolio management has never changed: to maximize returns while effectively managing risk. What has changed are societal expectations.

Many investors, particularly millennials, have greater expectations for the investments in their portfolios. Everyone wants their investments to grow, but these investors no longer want growth for growth’s sake. Many expect their investments to also have a positive impact on the world, particularly in terms of the environment, local communities and in support of philanthropic causes.

Why this change in mindset? Because investors are applying these same standards to themselves. That is why impact or socially responsible investing is often a focal point for our clients.
