Giving back a key factor for women as their wealth rises

The Globe and Mail
December 2, 2025.

For Rebecca Broadley and Kate Murdoch, the uptick of philanthropic giving by women shows not just a financial shift, but a cultural one. As both advisors point out, women want their giving to make a meaningful impact and reflect who they are.

“You get women talking about why,” says Ms. Broadley. “Maybe their mom went through a health issue, or they grew up relying on certain community supports and they want to give back to the people or organizations that once helped them.”

“There is a real interest in supporting research and advancement that has historically been underfunded,” explains Ms. Murdoch. “Women want their giving to reflect their lived experience.”
